Job summary

Genesys seeks a Software Development Engineer with a strong UI focus to join our Work Automation team in Galway. You will design, build and maintain high-quality Angular-based UI components and integrate them with REST APIs within the Genesys Cloud platform.

You will own features end-to-end from design to deployment, collaborate closely with UX, PMs and other engineers, and contribute to performance, accessibility and security considerations while continuously improving engineering practices.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software development with a focus on web/UI?
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript
• Experience building modern web apps with component-based frameworks (Angular/React/Vue)
• Solid HTML/CSS and responsive web design understanding
• Experience consuming REST APIs and writing tests
• Familiarity with CI/CD and source control
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities
• Interest in AI-assisted development is a plus

The Role:

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer with a strong UI focus to join the Work Automation team. Work Automation is building capabilities within Genesys Cloud that help organisations manage, automate and orchestrate work beyond traditional customer interactions. Our teams develop experiences used by agents, supervisors and administrators to manage work and business processes within the Genesys Cloud platform. You will work primarily with Angular, collaborating closely with UX designers, product managers and other engineers to turn product requirements and designs into high-quality intuitive, accessible and scalable customer experiences. This is a hands‑on engineering role where you will own work through the full development lifecycle — from understanding a problem and contributing to the design, through implementation, automated testing and code review, to deployment and supporting the feature in production.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop and maintain high‑quality applications and reusable UI components using Angular.
• Take ownership of features through implementation, automated testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance.
• Write clean, maintainable and well‑tested code with a strong focus on quality.
• Investigate and solve technical problems independently while collaborating with the wider team when needed.
• Participate actively in code reviews and technical discussions, both giving and receiving constructive feedback.
• Work closely with UX, Product Management and engineering colleagues to understand customer problems and develop effective solutions.
• Integrate UI applications with REST APIs and services across the wider Genesys Cloud platform.
• Consider performance, accessibility, security and usability as part of everyday development.
• Use telemetry and operational data to understand how features behave in production and help diagnose and resolve issues.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices, development processes and user experience.

What You'll Bring

• Approximately 2+ years of professional software development experience, with a significant focus on web or UI development.
• Strong development experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Experience developing modern web applications using Angular or a comparable component‑based framework such as React or Vue.
• A solid understanding of HTML, CSS and responsive web development.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Experience writing unit and automated tests as part of normal software development.
• A good understanding of software engineering fundamentals and the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with source control and modern CI/CD development practices.
• The ability to investigate problems, identify potential solutions and work independently on well‑defined areas of a product.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with engineers, UX designers and product managers.
• A customer‑focused mindset and an interest in building software that intuitive and enjoyable to use.
• Nice to Have: Experience building larger‑scale SaaS or enterprise web applications.
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms.
• Experience with frontend state management and asynchronous application patterns.
• Familiarity with web accessibility standards and accessible UI development.
• Experience with observability, telemetry or frontend performance monitoring.
• Experience working with design systems or reusable component libraries.
• An understanding of microservices and distributed cloud architectures.
• An interest in AI‑assisted development and how AI can be incorporated into modern product experiences.
