Job summary

CareerWise Recruitment is seeking a Software Controls Engineer for our Dublin-based client. You will develop and maintain GUI and control software for high-performance instruments, integrating hardware and software interfaces.

Responsibilities include instrument control interfaces (Serial, TCP/IP, MQTT), data acquisition, debugging, and system integration across multiple levels to ensure robust performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Automation Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Two plus years’ experience in development of complex PC-based systems.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining software for complex, integrated systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced LabVIEW development skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced Python development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) for complex scientific instrumentation
  • Developing and integrating instrument control interfaces, including Serial, TCP/IP, MQTT, and other communication protocols
  • Developing and maintaining Data Acquisition solutions
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and firmware issues
  • Supporting system integration, testing, and debugging across multiple levels of the system
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop reliable and robust control solutions
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the software architecture, development processes, and overall system performance
