Job summary

St. Joseph's Foundation in Ireland is recruiting for a dedicated care worker to support adults with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting. You will deliver daily personal care, assist with living skills, and promote independence.

The ideal candidate will have a HETAC diploma or CORU-eligible qualification, experience with challenging behaviours, and a full driver's licence. We offer structured training, generous leave, a solid pension, and staff supports.

Qualifications

  • HETAC Accredited Diploma/Degree in Social Care or Nursing (RNID) or CORU registration eligibility.
  • Experience in managing behaviour which challenges.
  • Experience with adults/children with intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability to supervise staff and residents in a residential setting.
  • Full Driver's Licence desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily personal care and support service users with daily living, social, and life skills.
  • Assist service users with budgeting, finances, and household tasks.
  • Administer prescribed medication and maintain records.
  • Facilitate leisure and community activities tailored to residents' needs.
  • Ensure health, safety, and emergency procedures are followed.
  • Support, develop, and supervise staff under the direction of the Person in Charge.
  • Maintain effective communication with residents, families, colleagues, and stakeholders.
  • Uphold the Foundation's policies, procedures, and confidentiality.

The ideal candidates will have:
  • A HETAC Accredited Diploma/Degree in Social Care or a qualification in Nursing (RNID) or a candidate must be eligible for registration under the standards of proficiency for CORU registration (www.coru.ie/social care workers)
  • Experience in managing behaviour which challenges.
  • Experience with adults/children with intellectual disabilities.
  • The ability to work on his/her own initiative and supervise service users/staff in a residential setting.
  • Full Driver's Licence (Desirable)
