Job summary

St. Joseph's Foundation is hiring to provide daily personal care and support to people with intellectual disabilities.

The role involves assisting service users in leisure, work and daily living activities, and transporting them to services and appointments, with a focus on safety and dignity. Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 healthcare qualification (Full award).
• Experience with children/adults with intellectual disability.
• Full manual driving licence and access to transport.
• Flexible and team-friendly approach.
• Genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily personal care (dressing, hygiene, toileting).
• Support service users in leisure, work and daily living activities.
• Monitor and report on wellbeing (physical, social, emotional).
• Assist in individual care programmes, including challenging behaviour.
• Accompany and transport service users to services, outings and appointments.
• Participate in holidays, hospital stays or therapy sessions (pool if required).
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Keep all areas clean, safe and comfortable.
• Help train and support new staff.
• Use equipment and aids safely and correctly.
• Report accidents, incidents and faulty equipment.
• Follow safety policies and Welfare at Work Act 2005; familiar with emergency procedures.

Requirements

• QQI Level 5 qualification in healthcare or a relevant field (Full award)
• Experience of working with children/adults in the field of intellectual disability
• Full manual driving licence and access to your own transport.
• A degree of flexibility and the ability to work as part of a team.
• A genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and helping them maximise their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily personal care and support (dressing, hygiene, toileting, etc.).
• Support service users in leisure, work, and daily living activities, encouraging community participation.
• Monitor and report on service users' physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.
• Assist in implementing individual care programmes, including for those with challenging behaviour.
• Accompany and transport service users to and from services, outings, and appointments.
• Participate in supporting service users during holidays, hospital stays, or therapy sessions (including pool use if required).
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Keep all areas clean, safe, and comfortable.
• Help train and support new staff
• Use all equipment and aids safely and correctly.
• Report and record all accidents, incidents, and faulty equipment.
• Follow safety policies and legal obligations under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005.
