Job summary

Corlann South invites Social Care Workers to join a dedicated team delivering care in two adult residential centres within a 20km radius of Cork City. The role uses the Good Lives Model and requires a flexible approach, working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet residents' needs.

Applicants must be CORU registered or eligible, hold a Schedule 3 qualification or an equivalent registered with CORU, and provide documentary proof within the stated timelines.

Social Care Worker/s – Ref: 53/2026

Permanent Full-Time hours (78 hours per fortnight)

Adult Residential

Two Centres within a 20km radius of Cork City

A panel may also be formed as a result of this process to fill vacancies as they arise in the coming year

The Purpose

The person/s appointed to the residential services will be very flexible in their approach to service provision and have the ability to work both on their own initiative and as a member of a team. He/she will work to the ethos and vision of the Brothers of Charity ensuring the needs of the people supported are being met by them as directed by the Person in Charge.

The model of Service will be based on the Good Lives Model. The successful candidate ideally should have a good working knowledge of Clinical Risk Management and in the identified planning systems or in the management of Services for persons with complex/ behavioural support needs As a team member, the best interests of each person using our service will be paramount in all discussions. Emphasis will be on forming a team approach involving people supported, families, advocates and staff on all relevant issues. People supported receive an integrated or part integrated service in line with their preference.

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU.
  1. 2. Have a Schedule 3 qualification (see note 1 below*)

  2. 3. Have a comparable qualification recognised by Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU. OR

  3. 4, Applicants who satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005, (see note 2

    below), must submit proof of application for registration with the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU. The

    acceptable proof is correspondence from the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU confirming their application

    for registration as a Section 91 applicant was received by the 30th November 2025. AND

  4. 5. Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers

    Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience of working with persons with an intellectual disability/autism in a Residential setting is essential.
  • Experience of working with Adults with behaviour that challenges is essential.
  • Commitment to the principles of social inclusion and community integration is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of flexibility is essential
  • Experience of using alternative communication methods is essential.
  • Previous experience and understanding of how to support individuals with very specific needs and/or clinical support requirements and a clear understanding of the importance of working in line with written protocols and guidelines is essential.
  • Knowledge of the Good Lives model of service and ARMADILLO risk review process is desirable.
  • Have a full clean Driver’s licence which qualifies you to drive manual transmission vehicles on Irish roads as driving of service vehicles is a requirement for this role.

Salary Scale: €41,260 - €57,789 including 1 LSI (1/6/26) and pro-rata for part-time & temporary contracts

* Successful candidates are required to submit all documentary evidence outlining any relevant experience within 3 months of starting date. Failure to do so will mean that any incremental credit due now will only be paid from date of submission of documents.

Hours of work: 78 hours per fortnight which may include sleep-in duties
