Job summary

STRIVE Search is seeking a Site Engineer (Setting Out Engineer) for a healthcare project in Longford. You will lead day-to-day setting out, surveying, and QA/QC tasks under the Senior Engineer, coordinating with site teams on a long-term build for a 43-bed facility.

The role requires 3–5 years in site engineering, a Civil Engineering degree, and strong use of Total Station and AutoCAD. BIM experience and safety-awareness are beneficial for success on site.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years' experience as Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience using Total Station and surveying equipment.
• Experience establishing site control and setting out from drawings.
• Good understanding of architectural, structural and civil drawings.
• Experience with QA/QC inspections and as-built surveys.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
• BIM or digital model experience beneficial.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently on site.
• Awareness of construction health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day setting out and surveying across the project.
• Establish and maintain site control, datums, gridlines and levels.
• Set out structural elements, drainage, underground services, external works and finishes.
• Check dimensions, levels and completed works to ensure accuracy.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural and civil drawings.
• Identify drawing discrepancies and assist with RFIs and technical queries.
• Complete as-built surveys and maintain accurate engineering records.
• Carry out QA/QC inspections in line with project quality requirements.
• Work closely with subcontractors, Site Managers and the wider construction team; support the Senior Engineer with delivery.

Site Engineer – Longford

• €50,000–€55,000 + Van
• Irish Main Contractor
• I'm currently working with an established Irish main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Setting Out Engineer / Site Engineer to join their team on a healthcare project in Longford. The project involves the construction of a new 43-bed residential care facility within an active hospital campus. The successful candidate will work alongside the Senior Engineer and wider site management team, taking responsibility for day-to-day setting out, surveying, quality checks and engineering duties across the project.

The Role

• Carry out day-to-day setting out and surveying across the project.
• Establish and maintain site control, datums, gridlines and levels.
• Set out structural elements, drainage, underground services, external works and finishes.
• Check dimensions, levels and completed works to ensure accuracy.
• Read and interpret architectural, structural and civil engineering drawings.

Requirements

• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
