About the role
MMD Construction is seeking a Site Engineer to join our project team and work closely in the delivery of construction works on site. The successful candidate will assist with setting out, surveying, quality control, and site coordination, ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and Irish construction standards while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Role
- Responsible for setting out, levelling and surveying the site using Total Station, GPS and other surveying equipment, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with design drawings and specifications.
- Carry out as-built surveys and maintain accurate survey records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications and quantities, ensuring accuracy and identifying any discrepancies for resolution.
- Ensure all construction activities are carried out in accordance with project specifications, quality standards and engineering best practice.
- Monitor and inspect works on site to ensure compliance with design requirements and quality control procedures.
- Prepare and maintain site records, quality documentation, inspection reports and survey data.
- Produce accurate and timely engineering reports, progress updates and supporting project documentation.
- Assist with planning and coordinating site activities to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Support the implementation of engineering solutions and construction methodologies on site.
- Establish and maintain site control points, benchmarks, datums and laser levels as required.
- Liaise with Project Manager, Site Manager, subcontractors and design teams to resolve technical queries and site issues.
- Assist in the preparation and management of RFIs, method statements, inspection test plans (ITPs) and other engineering documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment on site.
- Maintain detailed site diaries, recording progress, resources, weather conditions and any engineering-related issues.
- Carry out other engineering duties as required to support the successful delivery of the project.

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 1–3 years' relevant site engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, setting out procedures, and quality control processes.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and site activities in collaboration with site management teams.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Proficiency in setting out equipment, surveying, and site measurement techniques.Good knowledge of Irish Health & Safety legislation and Construction Regulations 2013.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and project delivery.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and engineering software relevant to the role.
- Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification.
