Job summary

Abbott Laboratories in Kilkenny seeks a Manufacturing Technician to perform setup, testing and verification of sensors within the quality testing area. You will follow SOPs, handle lab equipment and ensure timely, compliant testing to support product batch release.

The role emphasizes accuracy, adherence to GLP, H&S standards, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive quality improvements and maintain audit readiness across the site.

Qualifications

• A Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in a relevant science or engineering discipline, or equivalent.
• Experience of working in a laboratory or product test environment with analytical/testing instruments.
• Basic computer skills to operate Laboratory-based applications and equipment.
• Exposure to a regulated environment with strict compliance and documentation discipline.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume, time-sensitive testing.
• Accountability for personal actions and verification of colleagues’ work.
• Compliance mindset—strict adherence to Quality, GLP & Health & Safety standards.
• Proactive risk prevention & problem solving.
• Effective communicator—able to escalate issues promptly and represent the workgroup.

Responsibilities

• Operate laboratory equipment following SOPs.
• Perform troubleshooting and problem solving online following guidance in SOPs.
• Prepare solutions according to SOPs, weighing raw materials and performing calculations.
• Perform batch-number generation and material usage transactions.
• Set-up checks and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment; maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Maintain adequate stocks of laboratory consumables.
• Assist in scheduling and control of testing to meet output targets.
• Perform Out of Specification investigations as per SOP.
• Verify data and documentation reviews as required.
• Train fellow Technicians.
• Adhere to Health and Safety risk assessments; ensure EHS compliance.
• Support audit readiness for internal and external quality system audits.
• Demonstrate cross-functional team support and communicate with line managers.
• Notify support functions (Engineering Support, Unit QA, Technical Support) as needed.
• Input data into production records; perform other reasonable requests.
