Job description

We are supporting an exciting expansion within a leading pharmaceutical development organisation that is investing heavily in its Biologics Process Development capability.

As part of this growth, the team is hiring two Senior Scientists for separate positions within Upstream and Downstream Process Development. Both are hands‑on R&D roles offering the opportunity to lead complex development, optimisation, characterisation and scale‑up projects for some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

We’re looking for experienced scientists who enjoy solving complex process challenges and want to work in a highly collaborative, innovation-driven environment. I’m particularly interested in speaking with individuals who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

Upstream Process Development

• Mammalian cell culture
• AMBR 15, AMBR 250 or comparable bioreactor systems
• Laboratory and pilot‑scale bioreactors
• Fed‑batch and perfusion processing
• Seed‑train and inoculum scale‑up
• Process optimisation and characterisation
• Scale‑up and scale‑down model development
• Technology transfer
• Monoclonal and recombinant antibodies
• Viral vectors and cell and gene therapies

Downstream Process Development

• Affinity, IEX, SEC and multimodal chromatography
• TFF and UF/DF
• Clarification and depth filtration
• Viral clearance and inactivation
• Process optimisation, robustness and cost reduction
• Scale‑up from bench to pilot and commercial manufacturing
• Technology transfer
• Monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, viral vectors, mRNA and other complex biologics

Both opportunities involve leading client‑facing projects, designing and executing experimental studies, interpreting process data, troubleshooting technical challenges and translating laboratory results into scalable manufacturing strategies.
