Job summary

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) invites applications for a part-time, temporary Specialist Medical Officer in the Medical Department at the National Blood Centre. The role focuses on expert donor and donation management, Therapeutic Apheresis, Immunohaematology, and hospital liaison support within a Quality Management framework.

Candidates must be registered with the Irish Medical Council and meet the listed criteria, with a salary on the Senior Area Medical Officer scale €97,771 to

Qualifications

• Registered Medical Practitioner with the Irish Medical Council.
• At least 3 years post-registration experience in clinical care of patients in the hospital setting.
• Postgraduate qualification in transfusion or MRCPI or equivalent.
• Proficiency in English language both oral and written.
• Proficiency in use of Information Technology.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and a high capacity for responsibility and individual initiative.
• Experience in Transfusion Medicine Practice.
• Understanding of Quality Management.
