Job summary

SMBC is hiring a Vice President, Senior Threat Detection Engineer for our Security Operations Center in a hybrid setup. You will lead detection engineering, telemetry strategy, and security analytics across cloud and on‑prem environments.

This role partners with Cyber Security, Technology, Risk, and Business units to translate risk into effective detections. Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in cyber security, strong experience with SIEM/EDR/UEBA/SOAR, and the ability to mentor peers while driving

Qualifications

• 7+ years in cyber security with threat detection / SOC experience.
• Design, tune, and maintain enterprise threat detections.
• Strong telemetry across cloud, endpoint, identity, network, and apps.
• Familiar with MITRE ATT&CK and detection workflows.
• Ability to influence direction and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise detections.
• Translate threat intel and incidents into actionable use cases.
• Improve detection quality and reduce false positives.
• Map detections to MITRE ATT&CK and drive improvements.
• Provide leadership in security analytics and monitoring strategy.
