Job summary

SMBC Group is seeking a Vice President, Senior Cyber Security Engineer to join our Security Operations Center. You will lead threat detection engineering across cloud and on-prem environments and mentor a team of engineers.

Based in Ireland, this hybrid role requires collaboration with Cyber Security, Technology, Risk, and Business stakeholders to translate risk into effective detection strategies and drive continuous improvement in a highly regulated banking environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of Cyber Security experience in threat detection, SOC, analytics, or IR.
• Proven ability to design and tune enterprise security detections.
• Strong understanding of security telemetry across cloud, endpoint, identity, network, infrastructure, and application environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise detections.
• Translate attack techniques and risk into detection use cases.
• Validate detections with simulations, analysis, and reviews.
• Improve detection quality by reducing false positives and telemetry gaps.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to security analytics strategy.
• Support audits and regulatory examinations.
