Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director / Associate Director for Ground Engineering, based in Newcastle upon Tyne with hybrid work options. You will drive technical development of the Ground Engineering team, strengthen client relationships, and lead delivery of geotechnical projects for major UK and international clients.

The role requires Chartered status, strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and design codes, and proven leadership in project delivery.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology with 2:1 or higher.
MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics or Geotechnical Engineering is advantageous.
Chartered status.
Strong knowledge of UK ground conditions and ground investigation practices.
Ability to collaborate closely in project delivery, work winning and maintaining high client satisfaction.
Knowledge of interpretation/parametric assessment methods for geotechnical design.
Ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
Networking capabilities in local, regional and national markets to promote the AECOM brand.
Insightfulness and ability to make informed decisions.
Passion for developing team members.

Responsibilities

Overseeing input, peer review and verification of geotechnical data and analyses as well as design calculations.
Providing consultative advice during all project stages including site selection and optioneering, design and construction.
Managing geotechnical projects including planning and developing schedules, coordination and budget.
Providing leadership and support to the Ground Engineering team for delivery to clients and internal partners.
Maintaining relationships to support a pipeline of business opportunities and leading multidisciplinary delivery.
Collaborating with Ground Engineering, Tunnelling and other teams on project works and tenders.
Mentoring junior team members with guidance and support.
