Job summary

AECOM invites graduates to join its Ground Engineering team in the UK&I on a 2-year GDP, designed to develop core skills across desk studies, fieldwork, and interpretation work. The role offers hybrid work and exposure to projects for major clients worldwide, with extensive training and GEO Grounding modules.

You will work on ground investigation design, 3D modelling, and geotechnical reporting, with opportunities to qualify through ICE, IOM3 or The Geological Society.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology with 2:1 classification or higher.
• An MSc/MEng in Soil Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential; AutoCAD/Civil 3D desirable.
• Willingness to pursue ICE, IOM3 or The Geological Society qualifications.
• Flexibility to work away from home on sites and in other offices.
• Full UK driving license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Desk studies, site inspections, rockface surveys and geomorphological mapping.
• Design, planning and procurement of ground investigations.
• Supervision of ground investigation fieldwork.
• Geological interpretation and preparation of interpretative reports.
• Analysis of geotechnical data and ground models; reporting on foundations and earthworks.
• Use of software for ground investigation data management and 3D modelling.
