Job summary

Crane Worldwide Logistics is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineering Manager – EMEIA to lead the design and delivery of innovative, cost-effective Contract Logistics solutions. You will oversee warehouse design, automation, and customer proposals while balancing operational and financial objectives.

Collaborate with Commercial, Operations, Finance, IT and customers to develop scalable warehouse and automation solutions that improve productivity, service, and value across multiple countries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in industrial engineering, warehouse design or Contract Logistics.
  • Strong 3PL/retail distribution or consumer goods experience.
  • Proven capability in warehouse layout design, operational workflows, labour modelling and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with WMS, automation technologies, business cases, TCO and ROI analysis.
  • Advanced analytical, presentation, project management, commercial and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Visio, SQL, SmartSheet and Access.
  • Ability to work across multiple countries, cultures and cross‑functional teams.
  • Win rate and quality of engineering‑supported proposals.
  • Accuracy and competitiveness of engineering cost models.
  • Timely delivery of engineering support and project implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering design for strategic Contract Logistics opportunities across EMEIA.
  • Analyse customer data and develop commercially competitive logistics solutions.
  • Design warehouse layouts, workflows, labour models, storage strategies, and material handling solutions.
  • Prepare technical content for proposals, presentations, workshops, and customer solution reviews.
  • Ensure solutions align with customer requirements, pricing submissions and Crane standards.
  • Support RFPs from qualification through contract award with engineered labour and cost inputs.
  • Develop AutoCAD layouts, flow diagrams, order analytics, inventory profiles and technical proposals.
  • Prepare budgetary estimates for warehouse equipment, automation and technology solutions.
  • Evaluate existing operations and identify improvements in productivity, quality, safety, service and cost.
  • Optimise layouts, storage capacity, inventory flow, labour utilisation and network performance.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies and engineering best practices.
  • Assess automation opportunities and develop business cases, TCO and ROI analyses.
  • Recommend warehouse technologies including WMS, conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, AMRs and robotic picking.
  • Lead engineering workstreams for new customer implementations and regional projects.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, risks and deliverables across cross‑functional teams.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Drive a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and customer focus.

The Senior Solutions Engineering Manager – EMEIA leads the design and delivery of innovative, cost-effective Contract Logistics solutions across the region, supporting new business growth, strategic customer opportunities, and operational excellence.

The Senior Solutions Engineering Manager is responsible for making technical and engineering decisions relating to warehouse design, operational efficiency, automation solutions, and customer proposals. The role exercises significant judgement in evaluating commercial opportunities, balancing operational requirements with financial objectives, and recommending engineering solutions that support regional business growth. Strategic decisions with significant financial or operational impact are made in conjunction with senior leadership.

Working closely with Commercial, Operations, Business Development, Finance, Procurement, IT, and customers, this role develops scalable warehouse, automation, and supply chain solutions that improve productivity, service, and customer value across multiple countries.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Solutions Design & Business Development
  • Lead engineering design for strategic Contract Logistics opportunities across EMEIA.
  • Analyse customer data and develop commercially competitive logistics solutions.
  • Design warehouse layouts, workflows, labour models, storage strategies, and material handling solutions.
  • Prepare technical content for proposals, presentations, workshops, and customer solution reviews.
  • Ensure solutions align with customer requirements, pricing submissions, and Crane operational standards.
Request for Proposal (RFP) Support
  • Support RFPs from qualification through contract award with engineered labour, resource, and cost inputs.
  • Develop AutoCAD layouts, flow diagrams, order analytics, inventory profiles, and technical proposal documentation.
  • Prepare budgetary estimates for warehouse equipment, automation, and technology solutions.
Operational Engineering & Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate existing operations and identify improvements in productivity, quality, safety, service, and cost.
  • Optimise layouts, storage capacity, inventory flow, labour utilisation, and network performance.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies and engineering best practice.
Automation & Technology
  • Assess automation opportunities and develop business cases, TCO, ROI, and financial analysis.
  • Recommend suitable warehouse technologies including WMS, conveyors, sortation, AS/RS, AGVs, AMRs, and robotic picking solutions.
  • Support vendor selection, procurement, and implementation of approved automation projects.
Project Management
  • Lead engineering workstreams for new customer implementations and regional projects.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, risks, and deliverables across cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop the regional Solutions Engineering team.
  • Allocate resources across regional priorities and promote collaboration between key functions.
  • Drive a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline; Master’s degree desirable.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in industrial engineering, warehouse design, supply chain management, or Contract Logistics.
  • Strong 3PL, retail distribution, manufacturing, e-commerce, or consumer goods experience.
  • Proven capability in warehouse layout design, operational workflows, labour standards, labour modelling, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with WMS, automation technologies, business cases, TCO, and ROI analysis.
  • Advanced analytical, presentation, project management, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Visio, SQL, SmartSheet, and Access.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple countries, cultures, and cross-functional teams.
