Job summary

Darwin Hawkins in Ireland seeks a Senior Solicitor – Regulatory Legal to join its in‑house team in Dublin on a hybrid basis. The role focuses on regulatory, competition and compliance matters, with exposure to significant commercial developments and transactions across an international footprint.

You will advise senior stakeholders, draft practical solutions, manage external advisers, and monitor regulatory developments.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor with approximately 7+ years' PQE in regulatory or competition law.
• Experience working with senior stakeholders in regulated industries.
• Strong drafting, analytical and advisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory advisory on complex matters across the business.
• Provide competition & State Aid guidance and related regulatory support.
• Support acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic transactions.
• Advise on contentious regulatory matters and investigations.

Our client is a large and highly regarded organisation operating within a complex and highly regulated sector. The business has significant operations across Ireland and internationally and is supported by an established in‑house legal function.

The Regulatory Legal team works closely with the wider business, providing strategic legal advice across regulatory, competition and compliance matters. Operating in an evolving regulatory landscape, the team is involved in significant commercial developments, transactions and strategic projects across the organisation.

• Qualified solicitor with approximately 7+ years’ PQE
• Experience gained within a leading law firm, in‑house legal function and/or at the Bar
• Strong experience advising organisations operating within regulated industries
• Experience across competition law, State aid and/or regulatory matters would be particularly relevant
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to provide clear, practical advice on complex legal issues
• Excellent drafting, analytical and stakeholder management skills
• Comfortable advising senior stakeholders and working across multidisciplinary teams
• Experience across contentious regulatory matters, compliance or public and administrative law would be beneficial

Role and Reporting Lines

Working as part of an established in‑house legal function, you will provide legal and regulatory advice across the wider organisation. Responsibilities will include:

• Regulatory Advisory – Advise on complex regulatory, compliance and contractual matters
• Competition & State Aid – Provide advice across competition law, State aid and related regulatory considerations
• Transactions – Provide regulatory and competition support on acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic transactions
• Contentious Matters – Advise on contentious and potentially contentious regulatory matters
• Regulatory Engagement – Support submissions, investigations, enquiries and engagement with regulators and other external stakeholders
• Compliance – Advise on regulatory obligations and wider compliance requirements
• External Advisers – Manage relationships with external counsel and specialist advisers
• Business Partnering – Work closely with senior stakeholders to provide practical and commercially focused legal advice
• Legal Developments – Monitor relevant legal and regulatory developments and advise the business on their potential impact
