Job summary

Amazon Web Services is hiring a Software Development Engineer III for the RDS for Oracle team. You will own the design and implementation of features that scale to millions of database instances, spanning kernel-level optimizations to customer-facing APIs and tooling.

You will lead architecture, drive agile cycles, mentor junior engineers, and ensure security and reliability at massive scale across AWS infrastructure and services.

Qualifications

• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Experience leading the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
• Experience in professional, non-internship software development.
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design.
• Experience in development in the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of large-scale, distributed database systems using RDS Oracle in AWS cloud environments.
• Own the design and implementation of complex features that scale to millions of database instances.
• Lead agile development cycles to prototype, develop, and deploy new database features and improvements.
• Balance speed of delivery with code quality, security, and scalability requirements.
• Collaborate with solution architects and customers to translate requirements into technical specs and roadmaps.
• Develop monitoring, automation, and tooling to manage massive-scale database deployments.
