Job summary

Toast is seeking a senior engineer for the IQ Grow team in Ireland. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend and frontend components, collaborating closely with Product and Design.

The role emphasizes AI-assisted development and mentoring, with ownership of features from design to rollout. You will work with Java/Kotlin on the backend, React on the frontend, and leverage PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, GraphQL, Tailwind, and Storybook.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend/full-stack experience.
• Strong collaboration with product, design and engineering stakeholders.
• Excited about AI-assisted development and LLM-based agents (Claude Code or similar).
• Ability to read and integrate with frontend applications; cross-stack work when needed.
• Strong software fundamentals: code quality, unit tests, and clean code.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable backend and frontend components.
• Ship features end-to-end from design through rollout and monitoring.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and raise team standards.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to align on goals and success metrics.
• Contribute to AI tooling and agent-assisted development practices.
