Job summary

Fivetran is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the dbt Platform Services teams. You will build and maintain stable, scalable services foundational to the dbt platform cloud product, apply solid architectural principles, and redesign external APIs to power improved user experiences.

You will collaborate across product, security, QA and customer support, mentor junior engineers, contribute to API-driven apps using REST and gRPC, and help enforce high programming standards with tests.

Qualifications

• Proficient in object-oriented design and scalable API development.
• Experience designing REST and/or gRPC APIs for cloud services.
• Familiarity with security concepts and authentication protocols (SAML/OIDC).
• Strong collaboration with product, security and QA teams.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers and drive code quality.

• Fivetran + dbt Labs is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our dbt Platform Services teams
• In this role you can expect to create and maintain stable, scalable services that are foundational to the dbt platform cloud product, based off solid architectural principles
• We’re also driving forward the next evolution of the dbt platform by redesigning our external APIs to power improved user experiences
• From rethinking our core data model and entities, to scaling our APIs accessing state that power hundreds of thousands of dbt run executions a day, you’ll be working on some of the most crosscutting and high scale work at dbt Labs today
• You’ll be joining a collaborative team of engineers; and as a Senior Engineer on the team, you will prioritize and tackle problems as they arise, working iteratively with product management, security and QA to deliver a great experience for our dbt Cloud administrators and end users

Have a systematic problem-solving approach coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive

Have strong fundamentals in object-oriented programming

Are able to balance speed of delivery with designing scalable, reusable components

Have experience supporting and evolving APIs through multiple iterations

Are ready to go outside of the team’s realm when there are infrastructure-related dependencies and collaborate with other teams to aid the delivery of team features

Have designed and built API-driven applications using REST and/or gRPC for API endpoints

Are highly motivated and able to work autonomously

Are passionate about design and code reviews that help grow the team

Ensure high programming standards by writing unit, functional, and integration tests

Have worked with authentication protocols like SAML and OIDC and fine-grained authorization

Have built reliable, mission-critical software for external customers

Have an interest in application-level product security

Have designed and implemented scalable architecture patterns

Have experience with Datadog or other log monitoring services and working with it to debug production issues

Have experience working on a distributed team
