Job summary

RECRUITERS in Dublin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-performing backend team. You will work on Java, Spring Boot, APIs, databases, CI/CD and emerging AI technologies across two-week sprints.

The role covers developing scalable backend apps, REST APIs, Oracle databases, code reviews, and automated testing. You’ll collaborate with engineers in Dublin and the US to push Agentic Commerce capabilities.

Qualifications

Senior Software Engineer | Dublin | €644/day | 12 Month Contract

I’m currently recruiting for a Senior Java Backend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team in Dublin, working on next-generation Agentic Commerce applications within a leading global technology organisation.

This is an opportunity to work across Java, Spring Boot, APIs, databases, CI/CD and emerging AI technologies, with exposure to modern Agentic Engineering practices.

The Role

You’ll be part of an engineering team developing and supporting modern backend applications, working across Java, APIs, databases, CI/CD and automated testing.

The wider engineering group is also working on Agentic Commerce and AI-driven development, providing exposure to emerging technologies and modern engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and support scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
• Design and develop REST APIs and web services
• Work across backend systems and contribute to ongoing platform development
• Support database development and migration work, including Cassandra to Oracle
• Work with GitHub and GitHub Copilot as part of modern development workflows
• Participate in code reviews and maintain strong engineering standards
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
• Contribute to BDD/TDD practices and Agile engineering processes
• Work within two-week Agile sprints
• Collaborate with engineers and technical stakeholders across Dublin and the US
• Contribute to the development of emerging Agentic Commerce capabilities and engineering practices

Required Experience

• Strong Java and Spring Boot experience
• Strong experience developing REST APIs and web services
• Solid backend engineering experience
• Experience working with Oracle databases
• Experience with BDD/TDD and automated testing
• Strong understanding of code review and software engineering best practices
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with GitHub, GitHub Copilot and SonarQube
• Experience working within Agile environments

Experience with AI, LLMs, Agentic Engineering or Agentic Commerce would be highly beneficial.

Exposure to emerging protocols and architectures such as MCP, A2A, AP2 or UCP would also be advantageous.

The Opportunity

You’ll be joining a Dublin-based engineering team working on next-generation technology across AI, Agentic Commerce and modern software engineering.

The team operates across Dublin and the US and works in two-week Agile sprints, with a strong focus on engineering quality, collaboration and continuous innovation.

The interview process consists of one stage, including a technical discussion and some code sharing.
