Job summary

Jobtailor in Ireland (Cork) is seeking a software engineer to design and develop high-quality, scalable systems and services aligned with architectural standards and product requirements.

You will own complex features from design through deployment, implement security best practices including OAuth2, OIDC, and RBAC, and work with AWS serverless and event-driven technologies. Collaboration with peers and DevOps is expected.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of software development experience in distributed or SaaS environments.
• Strong experience in Node.js/TypeScript or Java (Spring Boot).
• Familiarity with React or modern front-end frameworks.
• Solid understanding of RBAC and SaaS security principles.
• Experience with observability, metrics, logging, and tracing.

Design and develop high-quality, scalable systems and services aligned with architectural standards and product requirements
Implement maintainable, performant, observable, and reliable microservices and APIs
Own complex features or components from design through deployment, including testing, monitoring, and operational support
Collaborate with Principal Engineers, Architects, Product Managers, and DevOps
Build and enhance services using AWS serverless, event-driven, and container-based technologies
Apply authentication, authorization, and security best practices including OAuth2, OIDC, and RBAC
Participate in code reviews and uphold coding, design, testing, and CI/CD best practices
Improve metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting
Address technical debt, reliability risks, and continuous improvement opportunities
Contribute to GDPR and PII handling compliance requirements
Participate in agile ceremonies and improve engineering processes
Support the growth of other engineers and promote an inclusive engineering culture

Requirements

• 5–8 years of software development experience delivering production-grade applications in distributed or SaaS environments
• Strong experience in either Node.js / TypeScript or Java (Spring Boot, concurrency, RESTful services)
• Familiarity with React or similar modern front-end frameworks
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, multi-tenancy concepts, RBAC, and SaaS security principles
• Experience with observability best practices, including metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting
• Working knowledge of event-driven systems such as Kafka, SNS/SQS, Event-Bridge, and Kinesis
• Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and automated testing with JUnit, Jest, Playwright, etc.
• Ability to design for scalability, performance, and fault tolerance within a defined product domain
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex production issues
• Effective communication with technical and cross-functional stakeholders
• Commitment to continuous learning and improving engineering practices
