Job summary

Jobtailor in Ireland is seeking an experienced AWS Cloud/DevOps engineer to design and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable systems on AWS. You will implement infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, manage Kubernetes on AWS EKS, and lead monitoring and incident response to ensure reliability.

Collaborate with development teams to deploy new features and enhancements, maintain security best practices, and stay current with industry trends in site reliability engineering.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of AWS Cloud/DevOps/Software engineering experience.
  • Experience with complex ecosystems.
  • Understanding of security concepts and web security.
  • AWS Administration experience and resource management.
  • Experience delivering scalable Event Driven systems.
  • Scripting and debugging proficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

  • Work with a team to design and implement highly available, secure, scalable and cost-effective systems on AWS.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code automation (Terraform) to create IaC patterns and modules.
  • Monitor systems and applications, proactively identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks or availability issues.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS, including deployment, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting containers.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards to provide visibility into system health and performance.
  • Conduct post-incident analyses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Create and maintain documentation for system architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement and deploy new features and enhancements meeting reliability and performance standards.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging trends in site reliability engineering.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Work with a team to design and implement highly available, secure, scalable and cost-effective systems and processes, ensuring the reliability and performance of the company's AWS infrastructure.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code (IaC) automation (e.g., Terraform) to create IaC patterns and modules that accelerate development for end users programmatically.
  • Monitor systems and applications, proactively identifying and resolving any performance bottlenecks or availability issues.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS, including deployment, scaling, monitoring, and troubleshooting containerised workloads to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards to provide visibility into system health and performance.
  • Conduct post-incident analyses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Create and maintain documentation for system architecture, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to implement and deploy new features and enhancements, ensuring they meet reliability and performance standards.

Requirements
  • 4+ years of relevant AWS Cloud/DevOps/Software engineering experience
  • Demonstrable skills in working with complex ecosystems
  • Understanding of security concepts: encryption, secure application development, defensive programming, software vulnerabilities and exploits, general issues in web security
  • AWS Administration experience, optimum resource management/security
  • Experience delivering scalable Event Driven systems
  • Comfortable scripting and debugging
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Demonstrates expertise in AWS infrastructure management, including automation with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, and managing Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS. Proficient in monitoring system performance, conducting post-incident analyses, and implementing security best practices.
