The International team is seeking a talented and driven Senior Software Development Engineer to join CarGurus\' new Dublin office and work on product initiatives for our Canadian and UK markets. The role plays a key part in establishing the office\'s culture and involves responsibility for the full software development lifecycle across frontend and backend, collaborating with Engineering and Product peers to design innovative solutions for our dealer-facing products.

We are looking for candidates who can learn and adapt quickly and collaborate with other engineers to deliver solutions. Examples of potential project opportunities are described below.

What Youll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack features and APIs using Java, React, and TypeScript that support our international dealer products.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers across the organization to deliver and iterate on high-quality software for our Canadian and UK markets.
• Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Own services from ideation through deployment and ongoing production maintenance.
• Ensure systems are secure, maintainable, and highly available, following best practices in performance optimization and code quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues using observability tools to understand system health and performance.
• Mentor junior engineers, provide code review guidance, and help establish team processes and engineering standards for the Dublin office.

What Youll Bring

• 5+ years of experience in full-stack software development.
• Deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate, or similar frameworks).
• Strong production-grade experience building dynamic, responsive UIs with React and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems. Experience with GraphQL.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, caching, and data structures.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and production service management.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
• Eagerness to learn and lead projects.
• Bonus: Server-side TypeScript experience (especially Remix; Next.js or Express are also welcome).

Compensation and Benefits

The displayed range represents the expected annual base salary / On-Target Earnings (OTE) for this position. OTE includes base salary and on-target commission earnings for sales roles. Individual pay is determined by location, skills, experience, and education. This base salary forms part of a comprehensive Total Rewards Package and may include discretionary bonuses/incentives and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Position Pay Range: €78,000—€108,000 EUR
