Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background in C/C++ and Rust to join a cybersecurity and secure technology business. You will work on a greenfield platform, shape architectural decisions, and own key areas of the technology stack in a security-focused environment.

The role involves low-level software development, encryption and secure data handling, memory management, and collaboration with fellow engineers to deliver production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Key experience includes strong C/C++ programming
• Practical development experience with Rust in security-focused environments
• Solid understanding of systems programming and native software development
• Knowledge of memory management and secure software engineering
• Experience with encryption, cryptography or key-management concepts
• Exposure to SQLCipher or encrypted storage technologies
• Understanding of FFI and IPC between C/C++ and Rust
• Ability to interpret designs and translate to production software
• Experience contributing to engineering best practices
• Mentoring or supporting other engineers

Responsibilities

• Develop key components of a new security-focused systems platform using C++, C and Rust
• Engineer low-level functionality for encryption, secure data handling and key lifecycle management
• Build reliable mechanisms for storing and accessing encrypted information
• Design communication points across the tech stack
• Solve memory, validation, security and reliability challenges
• Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform evolves
• Promote testing, code reviews, documentation and maintainability
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues across layers
• Share knowledge with engineers as the team grows
