Our client, a biopharmaceutical company in Cork, is seeking a Senior SAP Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Transition Specialist to support an SAP go-live. The role involves regular travel to Munich to provide full-time, on-site support during go-live and the subsequent stabilisation period. The specialist will help new SAP users keep purchasing and payments running as they adopt the new processes.
Responsibilities:
- Create and amend high volumes of SAP purchase requisitions and purchase orders for existing supplier commitments and new purchasing needs. Check that requests are complete, accurate and follow procurement controls.
- Investigate blocked invoices, missing purchase orders and payment queries. Reconcile invoices against supplier agreements and purchasing records, working with Accounts Payable to clear overdue items and cutover backlogs.
- Act as the primary on-site procurement contact during cutover, go-live and stabilisation. Troubleshoot purchasing, supplier, invoice and approval issues, escalated system faults and track actions through daily issue reviews.
- Monitor approval queues, follow up on overdue or urgent requests and guide users on delegation and approval limits.
- Coach business users and super users in German and English on SAP navigation, requisitions, purchase orders and invoice queries. Reinforce training and help teams adopt standard purchasing procedures.
- Coordinate supplier onboarding and purchasing readiness with Procurement, Finance, Accounts Payable, IT and business teams. Document recurring problems, identify training gaps and recommend improvements as teams move into routine operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Operations Management, Life Sciences or a related discipline.
- 5 years’ SAP P2P experience, including hands-on SAP S/4HANA experience with requisitions, purchase orders, supplier transactions, invoice processing and reconciliation.
- Minimum 3 years supporting procurement in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare or a similarly regulated industry. Practical experience supporting research, laboratory, clinical, manufacturing or technical operations teams is required.
- Experience across most of the following purchasing areas: research organisations, R&D services, laboratory and scientific supplies, preclinical and clinical research, manufacturing and technical services, analytical and quality testing, and consulting or professional services.
- Understanding of the full P2P cycle for outsourced services, including service orders, milestone payments, statements of work, multi-year supplier agreements, change orders, service entry sheets and approval workflows.
- Fluent in written and spoken English; German would be a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and customer service skills. Able to manage competing priorities independently, work across functions and accommodate recurring meetings with US West Coast teams outside standard German business hours.
- Experience supporting ERP implementations, SAP deployments or post-go-live stabilisation is desirable, as is experience coaching users and working across time zones.
