Job summary

Partner Company in Ireland is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to build and scale secure payment infrastructure for a global fintech environment. You will own the backend powering payment portals, combining Ruby on Rails with Go for high‑throughput services and design end‑to‑end deposit and withdrawal flows.

You will implement PSP integrations, transaction routing and reconciliation, and ensure PCI DSS compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience in API-driven environments.
• Strong Ruby on Rails experience and Go production-level experience.
• Experience integrating payment service providers and payment gateways.
• Understanding of PCI DSS and secure handling of financial data.
• Experience designing scalable distributed backends with reliable transaction processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own Ruby on Rails and Go backend services with a focus on scalability and reliability.
• Lead the integration of payment providers and methods (cards, transfers, crypto, local solutions).
• Build end-to-end deposit and withdrawal workflows ensuring secure funds movement.
• Design, implement, and consume PSP APIs, webhooks, callbacks, and other integration mechanisms.
• Develop transaction routing, status tracking, reconciliation, and payment lifecycle logic.
• Implement robust handling for payment states, retries, idempotency, failures for reliable processing.
• Maintain strong security controls for payment data and support PCI DSS compliance.
• Monitor integrations, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability and performance.
• Develop reporting, logging, and observability capabilities for payment operations.
• Support anti-fraud, AML, and KYC controls in payment workflows.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, and mentorship.
