Job summary

Vantage Resources in Dublin is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a 12-month contract, hybrid work, to join a global technology leader working on critical payment network technology. You will develop scalable backend services.

The role requires strong Java and Go, microservices, Linux, CI/CD, and Agile. You'll collaborate with engineers and management across lifecycle, and contribute to edge computing initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java development; Spring Boot preferred.
• Experience building scalable, highly available distributed systems.
• Strong background in microservices and backend engineering.
• Familiar with Agile software development methodologies.
• Experience operating in Linux/UNIX environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices, and tooling.
• Strong experience with REST/Web Services in distributed systems.
• gRPC knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with payments/fintech or high-volume processing is beneficial.
• Edge computing/edge-based apps experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable backend solutions using Java and Go/Golang.
• Build and maintain software running at the Edge within a high-stability payment environment.
• Develop microservices and distributed applications supporting customer transactions.
• Work on Next Edge / Customer Transaction initiatives and POCs.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Tech Leads and Management throughout development.
• Design and develop solutions using APIs, messaging and distributed tech.
• Create technical docs, flowcharts and diagrams to support knowledge sharing.
• Participate in Agile development and CI/CD practices.
• Build software where reliability, scalability and stability are critical.

What you need:

• Strong Java development experience, ideally with Spring Boot
• Proven experience developing highly scalable, highly available distributed systems
• Experience with microservices and backend engineering
• Strong understanding of Agile software development
• Experience working in Linux/UNIX environments
• Experience with CI/CD and modern software engineering practices
• Experience with REST/Web Services and distributed applications
• gRPC experience would be advantageous
• Payments, fintech or other high-volume transaction processing experience would be highly beneficial
• Experience with Edge computing / Edge-based applications would be a strong advantage
• Ability to hit the ground running in a technically demanding environment
