Redline Group – Specialist Recruitment for Technology & Electronics Companies is seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer for a leading automation company in County Louth, Ireland. You will lead design, development, and deployment of advanced robotic systems, integrating hardware, software, and AI-driven automation.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor engineers, and contribute to R&D to advance perception, motion planning, and control architectures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience designing and implementing robotics systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design and development of robotic systems, including mechanical design, embedded systems, and control architectures.
  • Develop and optimise algorithms for perception, localisation, motion planning, and robotic control.
  • Integrate sensors, actuators, and embedded hardware with robotic software frameworks such as ROS and ROS2.
  • Build, test, and refine robotic prototypes as well as production-ready systems.
  • Collaborate closely with software, electrical, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless system performance.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring junior engineers and supporting project delivery against key milestones.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, system specifications, and test reports.
  • Contribute to research and development activities, identifying and evaluating emerging technologies to enhance product capabilities.

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Robotics Engineer to join our client's engineering team. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced robotic systems and automation solutions. This role requires a strong background in robotics software and hardware integration, motion planning, control systems, and AI-driven automation. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will help transform innovative concepts into robust, scalable robotic products. This is a full-time, permanent position based in County Louth, Ireland.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience designing and implementing robotics systems.
Required Skills
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Proven experience with ROS/ROS2, SLAM, and motion planning frameworks such as MoveIt and the Navigation Stack.
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and real-time control environments.
  • Solid understanding of computer vision, sensor fusion, and robotic perception systems.
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as Gazebo, RViz, Isaac Sim, or MATLAB/Simulink.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience applying AI and machine learning techniques within robotics applications, including object recognition and autonomous decision-making.
  • Knowledge of industrial robotics, autonomous mobile platforms, and collaborative robots (cobots).
  • Familiarity with hardware design and CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
