Job summary

Oliver James Group is seeking a Senior Risk Manager on a 6-month contract in Ireland. You will support the CRO to implement the Risk Management Framework and provide risk oversight across the three lines of defence.

The role involves preparing risk reports for committees, coordinating the RCSA process, and presenting risk analyses to stakeholders. The ideal candidate holds a University degree, with actuarial qualifications advantageous.

Qualifications

• University degree required.
• Actuarial qualification advantageous but not required.
• Knowledge of Solvency II requirements, risk management and actuarial principles.
• Experience as a risk actuary would be advantageous.
• 4+ years in a similar risk manager role in the Insurance industry.
• Previous experience working closely with the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI).
• Experience in providing risk challenge to the first line and presenting risk analysis to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the CRO in applying the Risk Management Framework effectively.
• Provide risk oversight in line with three lines of defence; ensure documentation and processes are followed.
• Prepare risk management reports for committees at Group level.
• Arrange and facilitate the RCSA process and document it.
• Coordinate meetings with risk owners and other key risk management participants.
• Prepare risk management material for internal and external presentations.
• Support oversight and challenge of the Internal Model for capital calculation.
• Collaborate with other risk managers and share workload as appropriate.
• Maintain clear communication with internal audit.

Client Overview

Our client operates in the insurance industry and requires a Senior Risk Manager for a 6-month contract role within the Risk department.

Role and Responsibilities

Support the CRO in the effective application of the Risk Management Framework.

In line with the three lines of defence principle and the procedures described in the risk management framework document, provide oversight of risk; including:

• Provide support and input to the business in interactions with the Central Bank of Ireland.
• Prepare risk management reports for appropriate committees at Group level.
• Arrange and facilitate the RCSA process, ensuring the processes are performed and documented.
• Arrange appropriate meetings with risk owners and other key individuals with responsibility within the risk management framework.
• Prepare risk management material for internal and external presentations.
• Support the CRO in the provision of effective oversight and challenge of the Internal Model for calculating capital.
• Ensure close collaboration with other risk managers, sharing their workload as appropriate.
• Ensure clear and regular communication with internal audit.

Key Skills & Qualifications
