Job summary

O'Connor Sutton Cronin is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer to lead on-site oversight for an Active Travel Infrastructure scheme in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.

You will supervise the contractor, monitor quality and progress, and manage documentation and safety compliance on a day-to-day basis. The ideal candidate has a Level 8 Civil Engineering qualification, 6+ years of post-graduate experience, and familiarity with public works contracts.

Qualifications

• Level 8 qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 years' post-graduate experience.
• Experience as Resident Engineer / Site Engineer.
• Experience on civil infrastructure projects (roads, active travel, drainage).
• 5+ years under Public Works Contracts.
• Current Safe Pass and construction safety qualifications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Chartered status or progress towards it is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Act as Resident Engineer supervising contractor on site.
• Monitor construction of the Active Travel infrastructure works.
• Ensure works comply with drawings, specifications, contract and programme.
• Maintain site records and inspect progress.
• Review contractor submissions and RAMS.
• Assist with contract administration including payments and variations.
• Liaise with employer, design team and stakeholders.
• Ensure Health & Safety requirements on site.
• Prepare site and progress reports.
• Attend site and progress meetings.
• Collaborate with project team for delivery.
