Job summary

Brightwater Executive is seeking a Senior Reserving Actuary to join the Worldwide Non-Life Reserving team. You will support the Head of Non-Life Reserving – Specialty, focusing on reserving for the global Specialty Reinsurance portfolio, with exposure to underwriting, claims and senior stakeholders.

You will contribute to reserving decisions, deliver insights, and communicate complex actuarial concepts to diverse stakeholders, ensuring high-quality reporting and forward-looking assessments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years post-qualification experience in non-life re/insurance.
• Experience working closely with underwriting teams.
• Strong communication of actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead reserve reviews across varied specialty portfolios.
• Commitment to high integrity and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to and lead deep dive reserve reviews across Specialty portfolios.
• Coordinate with underwriting, pricing and claims to determine ACE and support MBE reserves.
• Provide reserving insights to Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Reinsurance Accounting and Finance.
• Maintain feedback loop with Underwriting and Pricing for forward-looking decisions.
• Support internal and external reporting and interpretation of reserving results.

Job description

We are delighted to be working on a Senior Reserving Actuary position with a leading global reinsurer. This role sits within the Worldwide Non-Life Reserving team, supporting the Head of Non-Life Reserving – Specialty, with a focus on reserving for the global Specialty Reinsurance portfolio. This role offers significant exposure to underwriting, claims and senior stakeholders, contributing directly to reserving decisions and business insight.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to and lead deep dive reserve reviews across Specialty portfolios including Aviation, Financial Lines, Property, Engineering, Marine and Energy.
• Work with underwriting, pricing and claims teams to determine ACE reserves and support Management Best Estimate (MBE) reserves.
• Ensure a consistent flow of reserving insights to Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Reinsurance Accounting and Finance.
• Maintain a strong feedback loop with Underwriting and Pricing to support forward-looking decisions.
• Support internal and external reporting and contribute to the interpretation and discussion of reserving results.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years post-qualification experience in non-life re/insurance.
• Strong track record and experience in non-life reserving.
• Experience working closely with underwriting teams.
• Experience in Specialty Reinsurance/Insurance preferred.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain actuarial concepts clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong business judgement and ability to solve complex problems pragmatically.
