Job summary

University College Cork is seeking a highly qualified researcher for a 12-month, full-time Postdoctoral/Research Fellow position in Quantum Matter within the MARQUIS project. The role encompasses design, operation and analysis of macroscopic quantum systems and associated instrumentation at milli-kelvin temperatures.

The successful candidate will work on high-field magnets, SQUIDs and cryogenic imaging, collaborating with the School of Physics and external partners, and will contribute to data

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain sub-kelvin refrigeration systems.
• Operate ultra-low vibration experiments with control of noise sources.
• Design and operate high-field superconducting magnets up to 20 Tesla.
• Work with Josephson junctions, SQUIDs and superconducting qubits.
• Develop GHz bandwidth data acquisition and storage systems.
• Instrument design and fabrication including CAD, prototyping and testing.
• Assist in low temperature spectroscopic imaging and quantum matter studies.
• Contribute to data analysis, modeling and dissemination of results.
