Job summary

Job description

Senior Psychologist

My client provides specialist care and support for children and young people with disabilities, aiming to maximize independence, wellbeing, and development. We are committed to an inclusive, multidisciplinary approach that supports children, families, and carers while promoting professional growth for staff.

The Senior Psychologist will provide specialist psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation within the Children’s Disability Team. The role involves working with children and young people with complex developmental, behavioral, and emotional needs, supporting families, and contributing to service development and staff supervision. This is an initial 12-month contract role based in West Dublin.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for children and young people with developmental, learning, behavioral, or physical disabilities.
  • Design and implement evidence-based interventions addressing emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties, tailored to each child’s needs.
  • Provide consultation and support to families, carers, and educational or health professionals.
  • Offer clinical supervision and mentoring to junior psychologists, trainees, and allied health professionals within the CDT.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team (including paediatricians, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, and social workers) to develop holistic care plans.
  • Support service evaluation, quality improvement, and contribute to research projects relevant to children with disabilities.
  • Maintain accurate records, write reports, and participate in case reviews and team meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, professional guidelines (BPS, HCPC), and organizational policies.
Requirements
  • Have a university degree or diploma (QQ1 level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1stor 2ndclass honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
  • Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology.
  • An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health. Application for this post must be inclusive of letter of validation.
  • Extensive experience in child and adolescent psychology, ideally with children with disabilities or complex developmental needs.
  • Experience delivering psychological assessments, interventions, and consultation for children with behavioural, emotional, or developmental difficulties.
  • Proven experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team in clinical, educational, or community settings.
  • Experience in service development, audit, or research relevant to children’s disabilities is advantageous.
