Job summary

Job description

Senior Psychologist – CAMHS

The Senior Psychologist will provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention to young people receiving care within Linn Dara CAMHS inpatient service.

Working as a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will contribute psychological expertise to clinical decision-making, risk management, treatment planning and discharge planning, while supporting the development of high-quality psychological practice across the service.

Key Responsibilities of Senior Psychologist – CAMHS

• Provide specialist psychological assessment and formulation for young people with complex mental health presentations.
• Deliver evidence-based psychological interventions appropriate to the needs and developmental stage of the young person.
• Contribute to assessment and management of suicide, self-harm and other clinical risks.
• Participate actively in MDT meetings, clinical reviews and care planning.
• Provide psychological consultation and advice to colleagues across the service.
• Work collaboratively with young people, parents/carers and community CAMHS teams.
• Contribute to safe, effective and psychologically informed discharge planning.
• Provide supervision and support to psychology staff and trainees, where appropriate.
• Promote trauma-informed, recovery-focused and evidence-based practice.
• Contribute to clinical audit, research, service evaluation and quality improvement.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with HSE policies, professional standards and relevant legislation.
• Maintain professional competence through supervision and continuing professional development.

Essential Qualifications & Experience for Senior Psychologist – CAMHS

Candidates must meet the current HSE eligibility requirements for Senior Psychologist – Senior Clinical, Grade 367Y, including:

• Recognised honours degree in Psychology or equivalent.
• Recognised postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology.
• Appropriate professional recognition/validation in Ireland.
• Required postgraduate and post-registration professional experience in accordance with current HSE criteria.
• Demonstrated competence in the relevant care group.

Desirable Experience

• Experience in CAMHS.
• Experience in an inpatient mental health setting.
• Experience working with complex adolescent mental health presentations.
• Experience of risk assessment, self-harm and suicidal behaviour.
• Experience of family work and multidisciplinary working.
• Experience in clinical supervision, service development, audit or research.
