Job summary

Fehily Timoney and Company seeks a Senior Project Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Science team across Cork, Dublin or Carlow. You will lead EIAs and related planning documents, providing technical input and coordinating with regulators and stakeholders to deliver compliant outcomes.

The role offers exposure to diverse environmental projects, opportunities for Chartered status, and a collaborative team culture within a leading Irish consultancy.

Qualifications

  • Degree in an environmental discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years post-graduate environmental experience.
  • Chartered status in relevant field encouraged.
  • Experience with planning submissions and licence/permit apps.
  • Full, clean driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage EIAs, SEAs, AAs and planning documents for projects.
  • Offer expert environmental guidance to project teams.
  • Oversee regulatory approvals and licensing processes.
  • Support business development within environmental services.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders.

Job description

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland's largest indigenous consultancies specialising in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment, Energy and Renewables. FT integrates engineering and scientific expertise to deliver balanced, environmentally sound solutions in the design and development of the built environment. Our environmental and ecology teams provide in depth knowledge across a broad spectrum of scientific fields, including biodiversity, noise, hydrology, water quality, geology, hydrogeology, and environmental data management. FT is recruiting a Senior Project Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Science team in our Cork, Dublin or Carlow office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the growth of our environmental services and will collaborate closely with at team of experienced professionals. The position offers board exposure across multiple areas within the environmental sector, including though not limited to, planning and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), waste management, infrastructure development, waste licensing and permitting, industrial emissions licensing, and environmental due diligence.

FT's Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordination of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs), Appropriate Assessments (AAs), planning application documents and other environmental reports
  • Offer expert technical guidance on environmental matters to support project teams and business operations
  • Knowledge of surface and groundwater sampling techniques and water quality assessments
  • Experience in Water Framework Compliance Assessments and hydrology impact assessments would be an advantage
  • Play an active role in developing and supporting business development activities
  • Oversee and manage the process of securing necessary regulatory approvals
Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in a relevant environmental discipline
  • At least 5 years of post-graduate experience in an environmental role
  • Interested in attaining Chartered status in relevant professional field
  • Good knowledge of planning, environmental and waste management legislation
  • Proven experience preparing reports, planning submissions and licence/permit applications across a diverse range of projects
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Flexible, collaborative, and team oriented
  • Excellent technical writing and report reviewing skills
  • Experience in engaging with external stakeholders, regulatory authorities and subcontractors
  • Full, clean driver's licence
