The Opportunity

As Ei Electronics invests in cloud-enabled Connected Home and IoT solutions we are building a global product organisation to match. We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to own a significant product line within one of our global portfolios.

Product management at Ei Electronics holds accountability for their proposition, across the full product lifecycle.

As a Senior Product Manager you will own a significant product line, or a group of related lines and you will set the strategy for that line within the portfolio and own the business case that justifies it, throughout the product lifecycle.

You will define and manage requirement detail with the delivery teams including Engineering, Architecture, Quality and Regulatory, Supply Chain, Marketing and our regional customer success and go to market teams.

What you will be responsible for
  • Set the strategy and own the roadmap for your product line within the portfolio.
  • Own the business case from initial investment through in-life performance to end of life and be accountable for the overall success of the proposition.
  • Own the product investment and return for your products and propositions — this includes delivering solutions with an appropriate cost structure, gross margin, lifecycle economics and return on product investment — based on a global revenue view.
  • Hold requirements authority for your products, and be the single point of authority, adept at managing and balancing needs and demands based on customer needs, market feedback, competitive positioning.
  • Demonstrate an evidence based method to drive your prioritisation and roadmap decisions: managing data sources and signals from customer, user and installer research, market and competitive analysis, regulatory direction, and field and quality data.
  • Manage your propositions through the product lifeycle stage-gates ensuring consistent focus on optimisng the use of allocated resources to deliver maximum return on investment
  • Own launch readiness across proposition, positioning, sales enablement, technical documentation, service and support.
  • Own lifecycle decisions — sustain, invest, harvest, retire — and the transition planning that product succession requires.
  • Ensure continued focus on go to market and growth post-launch
  • Operate as the commercially and outcome focused counterpart to Engineering, Architecture and Programme & Portfolio Delivery throughout development, escalating early with a recommendation where scope, schedule, cost and quality cannot all be held.
  • Be an advocate and contributor to how product management is practised across the group.
What we are looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Design, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated capability.
  • Minimum 8 years’ product management experience, with a clear record of product lines owned end to end.
  • Experience with physical products, ideally combining hardware with software or connected services, evidenced by products taken to market rather than by roadmaps produced.
  • Strong financial literacy: able to build and defend a business case, and to hold a view on cost, margin and return without deferring the question to Finance.
  • Experience setting strategy for a product line and resolving ambiguity independently, rather than executing a roadmap set elsewhere.
  • Comfort working with engineering teams on technical detail without either taking over the solution or losing the thread of it.
  • Experience resolving competing regional and market demands into a single global proposition.
  • Excellent written communication. Product requirements, business cases and post-launch reviews are the primary output of this role and are read by people who will not ask for clarification.
  • Proficiency in applying AI, including agentic solutions, across research, analysis, requirements and reporting to increase effectiveness and reduce time to market.
  • Willingness to travel internationally
  • Experience in life safety, building systems, smart home, energy, connected healthcare or technology-enabled care.
  • Experience of regulated product categories, and familiarity with managing products and solutions in line and ahead of regulation and specifications.
  • Experience of social housing, local authority, specification-led or channel-led routes to market.
  • Experience of recurring revenue and service propositions attached to hardware, including the measurement challenges these create.
  • Experience in multi-brand or multi-entity organisations where a global proposition has to survive regional difference.
  • Familiarity with requirements management and product lifecycle tooling
  • Customer and market insight — ability to engage directly with end users, customers and key stakeholders in their markets and segments
  • Ability to define market needs and product requirements, engaging directly with technical and market teams to balance need and priority, taking account of core value proposition, technical feasibility, unmet market needs, competitive positioning and time to market
  • High accountability to drive outcomes for your product area, maintaining a clear view and understanding of technical delivery in line with the agreed market requirements.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and influence across markets and functions without direct authority.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficient in building and securing business case commitments
  • Commercial focus — ability to maintain a clear understanding of the return on investment for a product or set of products; capable of owning a case and managing it to maximise product led growth throughout the product lifecycle.

At Ei Electronics, R&D is central to our continued market leadership. As a Senior Product Manager, you will own a product line that matters to our growth, decide what we build and why, and see it through to the market and the return it delivers — working on connected life safety products that make a real difference to people’s lives.
