Job summary

Glanua is seeking a Senior Process & Hydraulic Engineer to oversee water and wastewater infrastructure projects, from concept through to construction. The role includes mentoring junior engineers and engaging with clients for effective communication and query resolution.

Job description

Position Overview

Senior Process & Hydraulic Engineer – responsible for delivering water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept through to construction, commissioning and operation. Reports directly to the Design Lead.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver defined packages of work, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs.
  • Develop process and hydraulic design calculations, equipment specifications and layout drawings.
  • Produce and review technical deliverables: design reports, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment lists, cost assessments, constructability assessments and commissioning plans.
  • Coordinate technical interfaces across MEICA disciplines to ensure integrated, clash‑free designs.
  • Engage with clients and third‑party agencies to communicate design intent, resolve queries and attend site visits.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers; provide line management, performance review and talent development.
  • Support design assurance, quality and compliance with internal standards, client specifications and statutory regulations.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, ALMs, constructability workshops and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
  • Contribute to tender‑stage design proposals and continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum Level 8 Honours degree in Chemical, Water/Wastewater, Environmental or Process Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 7–12 years of experience in a similar role within the water, wastewater or process engineering sectors.
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered Engineer) desirable.
  • Strong technical expertise in process and hydraulic design, equipment selection and calculations for treatment systems.
  • Proficiency in preparing and managing process documentation including PFDs, P&IDs, control philosophies and constructability assessments.
  • Experience with digital engineering platforms such as BIM360, ACC, ProjectWise or similar CDEs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain client relationships, lead design discussions and facilitate workshops.
  • Leadership skills to mentor staff and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication, problem‑solving and independent work capabilities.
