Job summary

European Tech Recruit is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our Limerick-based engineering team. You will contribute across PLC programming, HMI design, and motion-control projects, supporting from development through commissioning at customer sites.

The role requires hands-on PLC expertise with Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff or Siemens platforms, plus strong problem-solving skills and collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and project teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in PLC programming / automation engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff and/or Siemens PLCs.
• Experience developing and commissioning HMI systems.
• Understanding of motion control, servo systems and industrial communications.
• Experience with automated machinery or machine-building environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Robotics experience would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and program PLC control systems for automated machinery and equipment.
• Design and develop HMI applications.
• Work with Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff and/or Siemens control platforms.
• Configure and commission servo drives, VSDs and motion control systems.
• Support electrical and controls design throughout the project lifecycle.
• Carry out testing, debugging, FAT and commissioning of automated equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, electrical and control-system issues.
• Work closely with mechanical, electrical and project engineering teams.
• Support equipment installation and commissioning at customer sites.
• Produce and maintain relevant technical documentation.
