Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is seeking a Senior Planner for our Wexford team to lead construction and civil projects. You will develop and maintain detailed programmes, coordinate with estimators, designers and site teams, and drive project delivery from tender through to execution.

You should have a third-level degree in civil engineering or construction, strong experience in road and marine works, and be proficient with MS Project, P6 and 4D planning software.

Making Possible

• Develop programme strategies for construction and tenders.
• Construct and maintain detailed programmes (in MS Project, P6 & 4D - training will be provided)) from first principles including resource and cost loading.
• Assimilate and interpret information from tender documentation.
• Input into construction techniques and buildability of construction methods.
• Co-ordinate with estimators and the project teams on all programme aspects.
• Co-ordinate with designers for D&B tenders.
• Prepare mass haul calculations and diagrams.
• Compile concise narratives, phasing, reports and supporting documents for input into quality submissions for tenders and projects.
• Manage short term planning with the project teams.
• Take ownership of the programme to drive project delivery.
• Contribute, support and communicate programme information, risk and commercial issues to operational teams in a variety of formats.
• Produce and chair collaborative planning workshops with clients, operational teams and subcontractors.
• Update and monitor project progress, compile reports against project and contract requirements.
• Introduce and analyse change in programmes and support the commercial teams.
• Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes.
• Peer review programmes.
• Comply with business processes and systems.
• Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques.

What do you bring to the role?

• A third level degree in civil engineering or construction.
• Must have experience in road, earthworks, drainage, structures and marine works.
• Previous experience as Civil Planner and a sound knowledge of construction techniques, with a good commercial and contractual acumen.
• Comfortable in client facing situations.
• A demonstrable ability to develop, own and drive programmes, along with managing sub-contractor programmes.
• A clear ability for logical thinking and working in an ordered fashion.
• Experience and understanding of planning techniques.
• The ability to communicate effectively.
• Competent in the use of planning software, (preferably P6) and 4D software - training will be available.
• The ability to work to defined, often challenging, timescales.
• Contribute to a bid-winning strategy for tenders.
