About the Company
An established structural steel specialist with a strong portfolio of complex projects is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planner to join its growing project delivery team in Dublin.
The business delivers structural steelwork across a range of major projects, working closely with clients, contractors, engineers and specialist subcontractors to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to programme.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planner to take a senior role within a specialist construction environment, providing planning expertise across both tenders and live projects.
The Role
As Senior Planner, you will take responsibility for the development, management and reporting of project programmes across structural steel projects.
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Site Teams, you will provide accurate planning information, monitor progress, identify potential risks and ensure projects remain aligned with agreed programmes and key milestones.
You will also play an important role in supporting project decision-making through detailed planning analysis and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of contract and project programmes for structural steel projects.
- Develop, maintain and update detailed project schedules.
- Produce monthly progress reports covering milestones, resources and productivity.
- Monitor project progress against agreed programmes and identify potential delays.
- Analyse project trends and provide planning insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure planning and reporting requirements for tenders and live contracts are delivered on time.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Site Teams to understand project progress and constraints.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
- Conduct regular planning reviews and identify schedule risks and opportunities.
- Provide schedule risk analysis and support the development of mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate construction methodologies and identify opportunities for improved project performance.
- Use planning data to influence project decisions and support successful delivery.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of planning processes and reporting standards.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a planning role within construction.
- Relevant third-level qualification.
- Experience working on construction or structural steel projects.
- Strong understanding of project programming and planning principles.
- Experience developing and managing contract and project programmes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong understanding of project progress reporting, milestones and resource planning.
- Ability to identify programme risks and develop practical mitigation strategies.
Technical Skills
Experience with the following would be highly advantageous:
- ASTA Powerproject
- Microsoft Power BI
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Previous experience within structural steel or specialist construction.
- Experience working on large-scale or complex construction projects.
- Experience preparing programmes for tenders and bids.
- Experience working with clients and subcontractors.
- Knowledge of construction methodologies and project delivery processes.
- Experience with schedule risk analysis and programme mitigation.
