Job summary

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with the Pharmacy team and other hospital departments to ensure patient care remains central to Pharmacy activities.
• Maintain knowledge of and comply with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland codes of practice and Mental Health Commission requirements.
• Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures and ensure adherence to them.
• Dispense in-patient, out-patient, weekend-leave and staff prescriptions under pharmacist supervision; dispense ward stock lists; coordinate dispensary workflow; coordinate medication ordering and stock management; ensure compliance with Falsified Medicines Directive; coordinate out-of-hours trolley, first aid kits, emergency trays, and patients' own medicines.

Responsibilities:

• To work collaboratively with other members of the Pharmacy team and Departments in the Hospital to ensure that patient care is central to all activities of the Pharmacy Department.
• To be fully aware of and comply with the codes of practice of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and the Mental Health Commission.
• To have full knowledge of and competently use the Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures and to contribute to development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures.
• To perform the following dispensary duties:
  • I. Dispense in-patient, out-patient, weekend -leave and staff prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • II. Dispense ward stock lists.
  • III. Co-ordinate dispensary workflow.
  • IV. Co-ordinate medication ordering in a cost-efficient manner.
  • V. Co-ordinate stock management processes including storage, returns, recycling, dispensary lay-out, medication waste and sustainability.
  • VI. Ensure compliance with Falsified Medicines Directive and associated processes.
  • VII. Co-ordinate out-of-hours trolley, first aid kits, emergency trays, patients’ own medicines.
