Job summary

CPL Group invites an experienced Software Engineer for a contract role in Dublin (Hybrid) to work on a flagship sub-ledger platform within a Tier 1 global investment bank’s Finance Technology division. You will enhance critical financial systems, collaborate with global teams, and contribute to architecture improvements.

The role focuses on Oracle Database and PL/SQL, with opportunities to apply design patterns, optimise SQL, and drive delivery in a fast-paced banking environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle Database (10g/11g/12c/19c) is required.
• Strong PL/SQL development and performance tuning skills.
• Proven SQL performance tuning and query optimization experience.
• Excellent object-oriented design and software engineering principles.
• Understanding of design patterns and enterprise application architecture.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with global or distributed development teams.
• Strong problem-solving mindset and ownership of issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement enhancements to existing platform functionality.
• Contribute to architectural improvements and modernization initiatives.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production and application issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional Finance Technology teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Work with Product Owners and Business Analysts to define, develop, and sign off user stories.
• Participate in application design, code reviews, and best-practice initiatives.
• Support regression test automation and continuous improvement efforts.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and reviews.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across teams and locations.
