Job summary

Medtronic Ireland is seeking a Sr. Software DevOps Engineer to lead design, automation, and support of our observability stack across Elastic Cloud, Dynatrace, Prometheus, and AWS.

This senior role shapes strategy, mentors engineers, and drives reliability through insights into systems and applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define SLIs/SLOs, improve logging and tracing, and guide CI/CD integrations for proactive incident response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• Minimum of 4 years of SRE/observability or platform engineering experience.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Solid understanding of distributed systems, containers, and microservices observability patterns.
• Own the architecture, implementation, and lifecycle management of the observability platform (Elastic Cloud, Dynatrace, Prometheus, and more).
• Lead efforts to improve logging, monitoring, metrics collection, distributed tracing, and alerting across cloud-native applications.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and architecture teams to define SLIs/SLOs and implement observability standards.
• Mentor junior engineers in best practices and evangelize observability initiatives.
• Integrate observability tools into CI/CD pipelines to enable proactive detection and incident response.
