Job summary

Bon Secours Hospital Cork invites applications for the permanent Director of Nursing. The DON will lead nursing services, drive clinical governance, and work with the executive team to ensure safe, efficient patient care across all departments.

The successful candidate will have NMBI General Division registration, a nursing and/or healthcare management qualification, and at least five years in senior nursing management, with strong leadership, budgeting and continuous improvement experience.

Qualifications

Current registration in the General Division of the NMBI.
A third-level qualification in Nursing and/or Healthcare Management.
At least five years in senior nursing management.
Proven ability to lead nursing services and translate priorities into plans.
Strong budgeting and workforce planning experience.
Experience in governance, quality improvement and patient safety.
Experience in regulated healthcare environments (HIQA/JCI).
Experience developing medical and/or surgical services.
Senior leadership experience with ADONs/CNMs/CNSs and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership to nursing services and governance across the hospital.
Translate strategic priorities into operational plans and performance metrics.
Manage resources effectively and drive improvements in patient flow and service delivery.
Develop and mentor senior nursing leaders, including ADONs, CNMs and CNSs.
Oversee budgeting, financial management and workforce planning.
Ensure clinical governance, quality improvement and patient safety systems.
