Job summary

MyHome.ie / The Irish Times Group is rebuilding its backend as a .NET 8 microservices platform on Azure Kubernetes. You will own services end-to-end in a hands-on delivery role, shipping code to production with minimal supervision on a live, revenue-generating platform.

You will design and ship microservices, migrate capabilities from legacy estate, and build event-driven flows using MassTransit and Azure Service Bus, while working with Azure SQL and Redis.

Qualifications

• 6+ years commercial backend development delivering production systems.
• Strong experience with C#/.NET 8 and modern ASP.NET Core.
• Hands-on with microservices, API gateways and service-to-service auth.
• Proficient with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud-native patterns.
• Relational data modelling with Azure SQL/SQL Server; EF Core or micro-ORM.
• Experience with MassTransit, Azure Service Bus and event-driven flows.
• Solid automated testing in real dependencies and CI/CD ownership.
• Brownfield migration of legacy monoliths while live systems run.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship .NET 8 microservices behind our API gateway.
• Migrate capabilities from legacy estate to the new platform in parallel.
• Develop event-driven flows with MassTransit and Azure Service Bus.
• Work across Azure SQL, Elasticsearch and Redis with proper indexing.
• Write unit and integration tests; diagnose production issues.
• Own Dockerfiles, Kubernetes manifests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Review peers' code and AI-assisted development outputs.
