Job summary

Mane in Ireland seeks an experienced MV Specialist Electrical Design Engineer to own medium-voltage systems for data centre, mission-critical and industrial projects. You will lead technical delivery from concept through handover, ensuring safety, reliability and compliance with project specs.

Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will perform power system studies, review equipment, coordinate with vendors and QA teams, and mentor junior engineers while driving engineering best practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in MV electrical design and power systems engineering.
• Experience delivering electrical packages on data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Excellent knowledge of MV distribution systems, switchgear and protection systems.
• Experience undertaking power system studies and interpreting results.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced MV Specialist Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team delivering major data centre, mission-critical and industrial projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong electrical engineer to take ownership of medium-voltage systems and advanced power system studies across complex engineering projects.

You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and handover. Working with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, consultants and specialist vendors, you will play a key role in ensuring electrical systems are safe, reliable and fully compliant with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and technical delivery of medium-voltage electrical systems.

• Develop and review MV distribution designs, equipment specifications and technical documentation.

• Carry out power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, earthing, harmonics and transient stability analysis.

• Use specialist software such as ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory and CDEGS.

• Review MV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, cable systems and associated equipment.

• Ensure designs comply with applicable IEC/IEEE standards, project specifications and regulatory requirements.

• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, BIM, construction, procurement and commissioning teams.

• Manage technical submissions, vendor approvals, design reviews and technical queries.

• Support installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and system handover.

• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.

• Strong experience in MV electrical design and power systems engineering.

• Experience delivering electrical packages on data centre, mission-critical, pharmaceutical, industrial or other complex projects.

• Excellent knowledge of medium-voltage distribution systems, switchgear, transformers and protection systems.

• Experience undertaking power system studies and interpreting technical analysis results.

• Proficiency in ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, CDEGS or equivalent specialist software.

• Knowledge of IEC/IEEE standards and electrical design requirements.

• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, clients, vendors and contractors.

• Exposure to electrical testing, commissioning and technical troubleshooting.

• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.

• The ability to take ownership of complex engineering deliverables and provide technical guidance to others.

Experience on hyperscale data centre or mission-critical projects, particularly involving critical power infrastructure, would be highly advantageous.
