Job summary

Grafana is seeking a skilled Mobile Engineer to build and evolve mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS, with strong performance, stability, and developer experience in mind. You will own end-to-end projects, design features like session tracking and crash reporting, and collaborate across teams to enable full-stack observability.

The role emphasizes OpenTelemetry familiarity, cross-platform capabilities, and contributions to observability OSS.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience building or maintaining mobile SDKs or platform libraries for external developers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong mobile engineering experience with iOS (Swift/Obj-C) and optionally Android (Kotlin/Java).
• Experience with performance-sensitive code and pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Familiarity with OpenTelemetry or contributions to OpenTelemetry SDKs/telemetry libraries.
• Experience with mobile security, privacy, or platform integration challenges.
• Contributions to OpenTelemetry, crash reporting libraries, or other observability OSS.
• Experience with cross-platform frameworks (React Native, Flutter) or bindings/bridges.
• Prior work on crash aggregation, session replay, or sampling for mobile telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve mobile instrumentation SDKs for iOS; prioritize performance and developer experience.
• Design and ship SDK features such as session tracking, crash reporting, and OpenTelemetry integrations.
• Own projects end-to-end from conception through delivery and maintenance.
• Break complex problems into incremental deliverables and iterate quickly.
• Ensure quality with automated tests, CI, and documentation; maintain backwards compatibility.
• Collaborate across backend, frontend, product, and solutions engineering for cohesive workflows.
• Engage with the open-source community; review PRs and guide external contributors.
• Mentor teammates and contribute to technical design discussions and roadmaps.
