Job summary

Leo Lynch Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Cost Estimator to join the estimating team in the UK. Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will prepare accurate tender cost estimates for pharmaceutical, data center, semiconductor, and industrial projects across the UK and Ireland.

You will develop take-offs, cost plans, and BOQs using costing software, review drawings, quotes, and specifications, and drive value engineering while meeting tender deadlines.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical, Process, Building Services Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of mechanical cost estimating experience in contracting.
• Strong MS Office skills.
• Understanding of mechanical building services systems.
• Ability to interpret drawings and prepare BOQs.

Responsibilities

About The Role

Reporting to the Estimating Manager and as an integral part of the estimating team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates and ensuring the timely submission of tenders. You will become proficient in the use of cost estimating software with training provided. You will work on tenders for projects such as Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Data Centers, Semiconductor, Commercial, etc., across Ireland and the UK.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, etc
• Ensure quantity take-offs and mark-up measured drawings are accurately prepared
• Request, manage, and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Issue tender queries and RFIs
• Prepare a costed bill of quantities
• Prepare tender reports, tender pricing schedules, and other tender return documents
• Advise on potential value engineering opportunities
• Manage data base
• Attend meetings and site visits when required
• Adhere to tender return deadlines
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and wider project teams
• Other related tasks as instructed

Candidates Requirements

• Degree in either Mechanical, Process, Building Services Engineering, or other related field
• 10+ years of previous mechanical cost estimating experience in a contracting environment, with experience of delivering tenders from enquiry to award stage, is essential
• Strong computer skills, especially in the use of MS Office
• Strong understanding of mechanical & process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical building services systems
• Good knowledge of different mechanical & process pipework materials
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, perform accurate take-offs, and prepare detailed BOQs
• Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines
• Must display excellent time management, communication, numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
• Problem-solving skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities
