Job summary

Applied Materials in Dublin, Ireland seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and release complex mechanical components and assemblies for plasma diagnostic sensor products. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • 7–10 years of relevant product development experience in high-technology environments.
  • Strong expertise in mechanical design, 3D CAD, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
  • Experience with DFM, materials selection, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Experience with engineering testing, qualification, and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, modification, qualification, and release of complex mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Develop precision CNC-machined components for vacuum, semiconductor processing, and plasma-exposed environments.
  • Create layouts, 3D models, drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Perform analyses including tolerance stack-ups, thermal characterization, and material assessments.
  • Apply GD&T and Design for Excellence to ensure product performance.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across systems, electrical, software, manufacturing, and sourcing.
  • Lead engineering reviews, risk assessments, and change activities.
