AECOM in Dublin is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings + Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of mechanical building services solutions across healthcare facilities, education campuses, railway stations, and data centres.

Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, you will develop energy-efficient systems, coordinate with other disciplines, and ensure compliance with Irish/UK regulations and BIM

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in a building services consultancy delivering mechanical design solutions.
  • Knowledge of Irish/UK building regulations and standards.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard mechanical design software and BIM, including Revit.
  • Understanding of HVAC, public health, low-carbon and sustainable building services.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving with practical and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Commitment to professional development and Chartered Engineer status.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects across healthcare, education, transport, and data centres.
  • Produce designs, calculations, specifications, reports and technical documentation to a high standard.
  • Coordinate with electrical, structural, civil, architectural and other disciplines to deliver integrated designs.
  • Develop energy-efficient and sustainable mechanical building services designs (HVAC, public health, heating and cooling).
  • Ensure designs comply with Irish Building Regulations, British/European standards and CIBSE guidance.
  • Support project delivery through programme management, technical coordination and client communications.
  • Attend design team meetings, site visits and inspections during project delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors and stakeholders to resolve issues and deliver outcomes.
  • Share knowledge across Building Services team and support graduate engineers.

AECOM is looking for a talented and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Buildings + Engineering team in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of innovative mechanical building services solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects, including healthcare facilities, education campuses, railway stations, and mission-critical data centres.

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will support the design and delivery of complex engineering projects while working closely with senior engineers, architects, contractors, and clients. You'll play an important role in developing sustainable, high-performing building services solutions and contribute to the continued success of our Building Services team in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and delivery of mechanical building services projects across the healthcare, education, transport, and data centre sectors.
  • Produce mechanical engineering designs, calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation to a high standard.
  • Coordinate with electrical, structural, civil, architectural, and specialist engineering disciplines to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Develop energy-efficient and sustainable mechanical building services designs, including HVAC, public health, heating, and cooling systems.
  • Ensure designs comply with Irish Building Regulations, relevant British and European Standards, CIBSE guidance, and project requirements.
  • Support project delivery by assisting with programme management, technical coordination, and client communications.
  • Attend design team meetings, site visits, and inspections as required during project delivery.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical issues and deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share technical knowledge across the Building Services team.
  • Support graduate engineers and work collaboratively within the wider engineering team.
Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a building services consultancy environment, delivering mechanical design solutions across a range of sectors.
  • Knowledge of Irish and UK building regulations, standards, and mechanical building services design practices.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard mechanical design software and BIM platforms, including Revit.
  • Understanding of HVAC, public health, low-carbon, and sustainable building services systems.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering practical and innovative engineering solutions.
  • Commitment to professional development and working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland, CIBSE, or equivalent)
